Masterbatch, also known as carrier, is a plastic processing aid. It mainly consists of carrier resin, functional additives and dispersants, etc. The functional additives are uniformly loaded into the resin through extruders and other equipment, and finally made into granular products. This granular product can be used as part of the raw material in the subsequent plastics processing, and the basic resin and other raw materials together with the melt blending, so as to realize the uniform dispersion of the functional additives, to enhance the performance of the plastic products of a certain kind or a variety of properties.

The emergence of masterbatch greatly simplifies the process of adding additives in plastics processing, improves production efficiency, and also reduces the risk of waste of additives and environmental pollution. By adjusting the type and proportion of functional additives in the masterbatch, masterbatch with different functional properties can be prepared to meet the production needs of different plastic products. For example, the addition of antioxidants, light stabilizers and other additives made of masterbatch can significantly improve the weather resistance and service life of plastic products; while the addition of flame retardants, toughening agents and other additives made of masterbatch can give plastic products better safety and mechanical properties.

In the plastics processing industry, the scope of application of masterbatch is very wide, covering almost all the need to add additives to the production process of plastic products. With the continuous progress of science and technology and the continuous improvement of people's requirements on the performance of plastic products, the types and properties of masterbatch are also constantly updated and improved, injecting new vitality for the development of the plastics processing industry.
